چکیده

Relativistic heavy ion collisions are studied assuming that particles can be described by a hadron gas in thermal and chemical equilibrium. The exact conservation of baryon number, strangeness and charge are explicitly taken into account. For heavy ions the effect arising from the neutron surplus becomes important and leads to a substantial increase in e.g. the π/π ratio. A method is developed which is very well suited for the study of small systems.

Hadronic Ratios and the Number of Projectile Participants

We investigate the dependence of hadronic ratios on the number of projectile participants using a thermal model incorporating exact baryon number and strangeness conservation. A comparison is made with results from Au − Au collisions obtained at the BNL-AGS. Preliminary results on the dependence of hadronic ratios on the number of projectile participants have recently been presented by the E866...

On the exact conservation laws in thermal models and the analysis of AGS and SIS experimental results

The production of hadrons in relativistic heavy ion collisions is studied using a statistical ensemble with thermal and chemical equilibrium. Special attention is given to exact conservation laws, i.e. certain charges are treated canonically instead of using the usual grand canonical approach. For small systems, the exact conservation of baryon number, strangeness and electric charge is to be t...

Hot and dense nuclear matter in an extended mean field approach

We investigate the equation of state of hadronic and quark-gluon matter at finite temperature and baryon density considering the possible formation of mixed phase in high energy heavy ion collisions. The analysis is performed by requiring the Gibbs conditions on the global conservation of baryon number, electric charge and strangeness number. For hadronic phase, we study an extended relativisti...

We consider an ideal gas of massive hadrons in thermal and chemical equilibrium. The gas expands longitudinally in accordance with Bjorken law. Strangeness and baryon number conservation is taken into account. This gas has different features as compared to the pion gas. Let us consider a heavy ion collision which goes through the intermediate state of an hadronic matter being in the thermal and...

The production of hadrons in Ni–Ni at the GSI is considered in a hadronic gas model with chemical equilibrium. Special attention is given to the abundance of strange particles which are treated using the exact conservation of strangeness. It is found that all the data can be described using a temperature T = 70± 10 MeV and a baryon chemical potential μB = 720± 20 MeV. Typeset using REVTEX 1
